As one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods and one of the largest, Parkview has been a desirable place to live for decades. It’s nestled along the banks of the North Saskatchewan river and many areas within the west Edmonton neighbourhood boast incredible views and easy access to this expansive natural area. This is likely how Parkview received its name. Parkview is located east of 149th street between the winding Valleyview Drive to the north and 87th avenue to the south. Its eastern border is the North Saskatchewan river. Much of Parkview was developed in the mid to late 1950s. Like most post war era neighbourhoods, most of land use in Parkview was and is used for detached, single family homes. The former subdivided neighbourhoods formerly known as Valleyview and Bueno Vista make up the current Parkview community. All these names reflect on the areas natural beauty and scenic views.







Residents enjoy a variety of commercial services including restaurants, a bank, hair salon and grocery store in the Valleyview Shopping Centre. Here you’ll also find two schools: Parkview School and St. Rose Junior High School. The Parkview Community League offers an outdoor skating rink, park, recreational programs and social events for all ages. There is a Catholic church here, but more churches, hospitals and other services, including downtown amenities and West Edmonton Mall, are a short drive away.

Parkview Demographics

According to the 2016 Census results, the population consists mainly of married couples in their 40s and 50s with children at still at home. There is also a strong representation of single adults in the same age range. Like most established neighbourhoods, there is a noticeable population of seniors living in the community and most have lived here for decades.
